An old beat up MXR Distortion and Phase 90 are my "go to" pedals. If you need more than the basics you are relying too much on signal processing.

i just have a boss GT6. It does the job since my amp was stolen and i can use it direct into Protools. Hopefully one day i'll have a new amp. I don't really use too much from it. Just one or two of the amp models and a couple of the distortion models. maybe a little chorus or delay and verb but i don't go crazy with effects.

My current Pedal Board is small
has a Dunlop DC-Brick for power
Pedals:
  • VOX Wah - wah wah wah wah wah
  • Maxxon OD-9 - overdirve
  • Behringer Ultra Stereo Chrous ( real POS )
  • BOSS - RT-20 - rotary/univibe simulator

And have a Digitech RP-155 for fooling around..

Mostly stopped using effects lately, just letting the tortured tubes do their thing.

all my gear is is listed in my sig. my favorite is my XOTiC AC Booster. its a clean boost that is completely transparent, so i can keep my AC30 very clean, then boost for natural overdrive. check them out. i love their products.

or you like the way the stuff sounds? "relying" on those effects can get sounds you couldnt even dream of without them

Just a Vox V845 Wah pedal. I want a tube screamer in the future though.

exactly. pedals are tools and nothing more. i hate it when folks say things like "hiding behind pedals". ive never EVER heard a pedal one that masked
sloppy playing or someone who just cant play. EVER.

+1

Although I have quite a few pedals residing at my feet, I rarely use more than a couple at a time. I look at pedals like an artist's pallette--he can use different combination of colors...but paint in and of itself is nothing but a tool--it doesn't make the painting a masterpiece.

your correct. lets look at the Edges board or david gilmour's board.
thousands of dollars in pedals.
a nice selection of pedals can really do wonders if the artist knows how to use them. it can also muddy up the creek too if ya know what im saying.
