tc electronics Poly-Tune (Best tuner I've ever used)
DigiTech Bad Monkey Overdrive (I really dig this pedal)
Boss DS-2 Turbo distortion (First pedal I bought)
MXR Carbon-Copy Delay (Amazing versatility)

Lehle makes a switchable pre-amp called the Sunday Driver that is going to be my next pedal

Hi there...

Okay, I'll play here.

Most of the pedals I have are the time based type, of those I have a...

1) BOSS CE-2 Chorus (Japanese green label)
2) Peavey DDL-3 delay
3) Peavey Delta stomp w/ a CV-1 control pedal.
4) VooDoo Labs Tremolo

Of the drive types I have a.....
1) BOSS GE-7 equalizer.
2) GPS Greenie drive.

I do not use them all, and some times not as all. The chorus and the greenie get the most use. The DDL-3 is used to split the signal as it has a wet/dry out so I can use two amps.
The EQ i use when i play my Wolfgang to change the tone up on her.
The Delta stomp is a pre-amp as well but has 16 time based effects, the rotary speaker is very close to the leslie and the main Item I use it for.

I have entirely too many effects... they've multiplied quietly while I wasn't looking, and could well be the final stage in the life-cycle of the paperclip. You know how they're always disappearing when you need one, and then it turns out you've got far too many wire coat hangers in your cupboard..? Eventually those hangers become valve-driven tape echo units. I only ever seem to use a maximum of two pedals at any one time, though, and those would generally be a fuzz and a delay.

Fuzz: Hartman Vintage Germanium (a fuzz-face circuit, I guess)
Klinger Custom Pedals Tonebender Mark II (OC75)
Klinger Custom "Chroma Zone"... seems Mark III-ish
Shin-Ei FY-2. I waited patiently and was able to nab one locally.
I love this nasty little wedge of black metal.

Other distortion/overdrive:
Mesa Boogie V-Twin
Tubeworks Real Tube
Tubeworks Blue Tube
Cusack Screamer V.1 (best Tubescreamer descendant IMO)
Paul Cochrane Timmy (best all-round pedal of any kind)

Modulation:
Melos Mini-Fazer (early '70s pre-Univox Japanese phaser)
Fuchs Plush Créme de la Trem (for the Brownface sound)
Dazatronyx Optical tremolo
Old Jim Dunlop tremolo... big purple one. I should move one of these.

Reverb:
Lee Jackson Mr Springgy
Malekko Spring Chicken (the original pink one)
Malekko Spring Chicken LE (more recent deluxe version)
Shin-Ei Companion SC-23 early '70s outboard spring reverb.
Even their reverbs seem to have a fuzz circuit built in...

Delay:
1963 Klemt Echolette NG-51
1970s Dynacord Echocord Mini
Malekko E300 Bright (in case anything happens to the tape echoes)

Other:
Jen Mister Crybaby Super wah (green fasel, maybe early '70s?)
Shin-Ei "Exciter" Hurricane-Siren-Surf-Volume wah... more '70s Japan
Ibanez Tube King TC999 tube compressor
Shin-Ei AF-17 "Anti-Feedback"... er... it's an EQ
Swart Atomic Boost OC44 treble booster
Late '70s DOD 440 Envelope Filter

That's gotta be it... man. I have to do something about all this stuff. As you can see, I could put together a craptastic rig for '70s Japanese garage.

Most of those items would have been bought at opportune moments with the intention of shifting whatever it was they were intended to replace; I just never seem to have got around to the "shifting" bit. It was never my plan to have more than one reverb or tremolo, that's for sure.

Great Scott, Mondo!

For a gentleman who's into acoustic flamenco type guitar - that's a heck of a collection of pedals!!! Is there such a thing as '70s-Japanese-garage-flamenco? Not yet? Then go to! :D

Cheers - C

I felt genuinely sheepish posting that list... I've never confronted my sordid little secret until now. Many of them lurk on top of wardrobes, away from the baleful gaze of the 5'2" Mrs mondo.

I do need to stop hoarding, especially if my lack of gainful employment persists. I always thought that it would be best to sell when either I could be reasonably sure I'd turn a profit, or otherwise when forced to by circumstances such as those in which I now find myself. I had a vague plan of returning to teaching guitar one of these days, setting my garage up as an Aladdin's cave of bizarre effects and obscure amplifiers for inquiring minds.

/edit see, even now I want to snag that Morley Echo Drive off cliff.lee (above)...man...oil-can delay...240V...yep, I've got a patch of book-shelf I could dust off...

Ha! OK, so I know this is a pedals thread - but tell us about those amps too, why not? :D

Amps... I don't have so many of those, as they're harder to hide. I would like to impress upon youthful ears the beauty of a 5-Watt valve amp cranked to perfection, so a Swart Space Tone 6v6se would come into play. Swart makes an attenuator (The Night Light) that does a great job of retaining the tone of a low-wattage amp as much as possible.

Then there's a 1967 Moody BA-17... Bert Moody was Sydney's most notable amp builder of the '60s, when imports were prohibitively expensive. Aussie valve amps have acquired a devoted following over the years... amongst older Aussies, at any rate. This one is like a 1x12 closed-back 17-Watt version of a Bassman. Apparently they weren't that great for bass, but for guitar it offers a lovely blues breakup after about 3 on the knob labeled "Soft -> Loud."

I also have a Dynacord Eminent II from 1973 (far as I can tell)... an 80-Watt EL-34 4-channel PA amp. It's the companion piece to the Echocord Mini in my effects collection. The tape echo unit has a dedicated channel for each of the inputs. I need to get some decent speakers for this amp, but as far as teaching goes I had rather imagined that we could plug into two of the channels, bathed in the glow from the backlit retro-futuristic perspex fascia. The Eminent II was Germany's most successful small PA system from about '66 to '79 (if memory serves), so... uh... well, at least it'll give me an excuse to hang onto some of those valve-equipped pedals, as it will not break up before the capacity of the human ear to withstand assault is reached.

Then there's a Tubeworks MosValve half-stack which I bought new in '92 and has been earmarked for disposal by Mrs mondo... perhaps it's the grey carpet finish (so practical, though!) and expanded metal grille that offends her delicate sensibilities. The Tubeworks pedals were purchased to offset the perceived incipient pain of the amp's departure (and because they're the only native 240v ones I've seen for sale here), but so far I just have a lot of Tubeworks gear piling up. I've had pleasant associations with it these past 18 years, though.

Mondo, in short: when can we come and visit that garage of yours? I feel there's so many hours of vital A/B'ing to be done. Aaaah...! :D

BTW: as you've no doubt noticed, here on the Forum we find that the key to getting our better halves on side over our GAS is to get them involved in this place. For example, Kong very wisely introduced us to Bride-Of-Kong, who turned out to be a charming and fascinating lass.

So we're now looking forward to meeting Bride-Of-Mondo! 8)

(After all: grey carpet on a halfstack. How could any sensible woman object to that in her livingroom?)

Cheers - C
