Seeking some help with a little dilemma... I have a Hot Rod Deluxe just sitting around not being used and I'm trying to convince myself to sell it off and buy a few pedals or cheap guitar but I can't seem to let it go. I don't *need* pedals or another guitar but obviously I don't need the Hot Rod too much either. I keep thinking that I might need it as a back-up one day.

What say you, keep it just in case or ditch it for a new toy?

Dump it!

Better to get another Strat or Tele.

Haha LMAO. Dump it. I did and it was the ONLY amp I didn't regret getting rid of. Not one single regret, tear shed or remorse. It was the best thing I ever did. The amp I have now is light years ahead in tone and build quality.

Dump it before it dumps on you. Just a little clue, do it quick. Fender just supposedly releasing a Hot Rod III series of amps that have some improvements that will drive the used price of your amp right into the ground.

I got $475 US for mine in mint condition with a spare set of tubes. It was only mint because the tech had it so much.

Yep Bill, and I'm not going to get into it you've been around a while so you know. I'm tired of listing the problems I had with mine. I think I may have been instrumental in the development of the Hot Rod III modifications from the standard HRD series amps.. LOL
Just do a search of my posts and you'll read all you want.

Its all good 63, I have been around for a while, and your complaint about your hot rod is legendary :D If Fender did listen, then good for you and other Hot Rod users... I was just giving you some crap in good fun
Take care

Bill

Hi VB,I've always lived to regret parting with gear sometimes months after the fact but what others are saying is true and it's not the best of amps maybe it's best to let it go.If you are thinking about an Epi Les Paul try out the '59 reissue first,it's the best Les Paul out there and outperforms what Gibson is selling now-at least the one I tried was-just perfection in every way.

I agree, very nice guitars. Much better than the lower end Gibbys IMO. Like I said, I like good cheap guitars. I don't have to worry about them as much. I chose the Ibanez over the Epi Dot. Price really isn't an issue for me. I can pretty much afford what I want, but I'm s cheapskate at heart and like oddball stuff that I'll modify if I feel the need to. I learned long ago it's not always what you pay for a guitar that makes it special it's what you can do with it that is.

There's no such thing as seller's remorse for selling a HotRod Deluxe if you use the money to buy a DRRI or some other REAL amp.

Trade it towards a synth, piano, another guitar, a cowbell...
