I'm surprised nobody has mentioned David Coverdale yet.
Great pipes.

The lead singer in my Dad's band has a really distinctive voice. He's probably never going to be famous but if he were there would be loads of people trying to copy him. He can do CCR songs, but he is to John Fogerty what SRV is to Albert King. You can hear the influence, but it's his own style. He's really that good, and he can sing blues too!

I don't about hardest to copy, but I've never heard anyone come close to SRV. I guess he's just the person that when people try to copy (vocally) it just drives me crazy. I can hear a fake Texas accent a mile away, and I can't stand to hear it in music. People way overdo it, Stevie doesn't sound like that at all. Just watch enough SRV covers on youtube and you'll see what I mean. Of course if you don't know what a Texan's supposed to sound like in the first place you may not notice it as much. :p

forgot to mention Elvis, Little Richard has said that his stage performance was electrifying, had hoped his grand-daughter would go in that direction( she sounds just enough like her great-grand-dad to notice ), with the right band it would give new meaning to the term an "Elvis Cover Song".

He's distinctive, I'll grant you that but I think we're supposed to list singers.

I loved Concrete Blonde's cover of Andy Prieboy's Tomorrow Wendy on Bloodletting,Jonette does an absolutely chilling job of it so much so that Andy got her to sing backup vocals for him when he recorded it for his Upon my Wicked Son album.
