just got this the other day. I have to say... i did not set my expectations too high. Wasn't gaga over the El Dorado, cover was a bit shocking and makes you long for the Derrik Riggs days of old...

But... I think this is my favorite Maiden album. They certainly took a leap of faith and delved into a more prog sound. Isle of Avalon is a great example of that. My favorite cut on the album has to be The Talisman... makes me think of Bruce standing a top the mast of a tall ship in a storm with Gauntlet a raised... WESTWARD WE SAIL

Anyone else get it?

or care?

Yes, I definitely care! :) There's a lot more that care that're out there that may not say they do. I'm getting the album because from what I've listened to on Itunes, the songs are all really really good, 'specially Starblind! :D And all the reviews I saw say the CD is worth the money, so hearing that from roughly 100 people, I think I'll get the Final Frontier cd! 8)

Looking forward to your review!

Talisman, Starblind, Isle Of Avalon and When the Wind Blows are my favorites off the record.

When the Wind Blows was a book adapted to an animated film in which Roger Waters, Peter Gabriel, and David Bowie did the soundtrack for. Very cool film from what i remember. It was neat to hear a Maiden spin on it.

cap'n C, i haven't bought a maiden cd since powerslave. i must confess, i used to play their stuff ALL the time. the last cd i purchased might have been the one when they added a 3rd guitarist???? heck, i don't remember. i was very disappointed.
is this one really good? i still play the early cd's often but lately i don't listen to music radio at all. all politics, all the time. it's the reason i'm going insane i think. i need some more iron maiden.

If you are referring to Brave New World, I like that one a lot but i will admit that the excitement surrounding that was more for the return of Bruce. Their are a few tracks like "A Brave New World" that are among my favorite maiden tunes though. As for the new one... I'd love to say "you'll Love it" but i'd hate to recommend you spend money on something you don't like. Ive had it repeating on my iPod for days now and just dig it. Definately the best album since the golden age of Maiden in my opinion. And just might be my all time favorite.

Maybe youtube some tracks and see what you think. I particularly like "The Talisman", "Starblind", and "The Isle of Avalon"

but that's me... to each his own i suppose. I hope you do like it if you do get a chance to check it out.

don't worry C, if i don't like it it's not your fault. if i get a day off this weekend i'm gonna pick it up. i saw maiden open for the scorpions on the beast tour. needless to say, they blew the roof off the arena and i've liked them ever since. in my older years i fancy country music more than rock. i guess it might be that i relate to the lyrics a little more. but........i still like the heavy stuff. thanx C.

I am purchasing it later tonight. I too was not thrilled with El Dorado, but I wasn't going to let that stop me. I have all their other cd's and want to complete my collection.

I downloaded it last night. Overall a good album. A couple songs will have to listen to a few more times to see if I will like them.
