8) Tomorrow morning marks the 41st anniversary of Jimi's Woodstock appearance, playing as the sun rose over Upstate New York. So, for those who are into these things, pop some Jimi into the iPod and give a listen on the way to work (or whatever) and think of peace, love, and the power of music (or any Hendrix-inspired thoughts), or just think about the man who directly or indirectly changed all of our lives forever.

Or think about how Hippies almost ruled the World!!! Luckily they had a short enough attention span...

That Hendrix performance is what made me want to play guitar. So yeah +1 on changing lives...

Cheers
Bill

I consider myself lucky to be among the somewhat limited people to see Hendrix. His star shined so bright, for such a short time. The few that were left at Woodstock as he was the last man standing, got the show of their life.

When I hear Jimi playing the anthem at Woodstock,I hear a lot more than great guitar playing....there's death, destruction, warfare and screams, and other ungodly sounds.
Thank god there's no smell included.

That would be interesting reissue 41st aniv. I think Fender guys prefer nice even numbers with zero in them. So lets hope for 2019 Hendrix Woodstock strat.

Was lucky enough to see him twice and have those memories. Jimi still evokes emotion to this day............... 8) Mike

I didn't know who Hendrix was while he was alive. He died too soon.

to all those that saw and heard Jimi play... I'am SO ENVIOUS. He's on my list of the ones that got away- along with The Beatles, original ABB, Janis, Mike Bloomfield, the Clancy Bros, Son House, Muddy Waters, Canned Heat, I better stop !! :!: This is getting me depressed :(

Although I have DVDs of Jimi at Monterey and Woodstock I never tire of watching him play.Jimi was the consumate showman and raised the bar for playing and performing. Although some of the things he did had been done before he refined it all and made it his own.The look of the faces of audience members after Wild Thing says it all, they looked like they had seen something appear from another solar system. When I first heard Jimi's music it touched a raw nerve in my soul and I decided then to really concentrate on becoming the best guitarist I could be and settled down to practicing up to 10 hours a day. While others were out playing softball, hockey etc. I was bashing at the guitar ,my buddies may have been in better shape but I got cuter girlfriends lol. The world will never see another guitarist who could cause the upheaval in guitar playing that Jimi did,if there hadn't been Jimi there wouldn't be a Van Halen or Malmsteen like we hear them today.Jimi left an indelible mark on guitardom with his soul, passion and inimitatable showmanship. He will go done inhistory with the likes of Paganini,Mozart and Bach as a brilliant innovator.

Jimi smoked everybody who was anybody at the time, and he came outta nowhere, that's what got all the big boys back then, like Clapton, the Beatles,Page,Townshend,Bloomfield, etc.
Heck, the first LIVE performance of any Sgt. Peppers songs were played by Jimi in front of some of the Beatles a day or so after the album debuted....to their amazement.
He was gigging in Nashville and Clarksville,Tennessee just a few years before,an unknown R&B player with Billy Cox.
I think he really knew how to upstage other performers and had the skills to do it.
He was "in your face" onstage.
