Hi,

I like to receive news from everything Fender-related. I receive the newsletters both of Fender US and of Fender Spain (or Fender in Spanish, I'm not sure, because I think it also includes Latin America). But each time I read that Fender is giving away a guitar or whatever, it's only open to US residents. They say that we must understand that it's owing to legal reasons, but I cannot avoid being frustrated every time I see those great instruments I cannot even dream of getting (both for not being able to enter the contests and for lack of money). I've been receiving these newsletters for several years, and although now and then there's a giveaway in the US site, I've never seen one in the Spanish site. I'm posting this here just in case the people from Fender see it and can do something. I kind of feel second-best!

Thanks a lot, and best regards to all Fender people everywhere!

Welcome to the Forum,I feel your pain,We Forum members in Canada don't qualify for the give aways yet they send us these emails with come ons for the contests. It's more than a little disheartening to get these emails when Fender knows full well when they send them that we can't enter so why send them to us-it's like they're rubbing our noses in it.

Don't worry about it too much, It's just as frustrating living in the U.S. and NOT winning these great instruments. I passed on the ukulele giveaway,I'm trying to save my luck for a Telecaster or a fender tube amp

Thanks for answering and, first of all, my apologies for not having introduced myself, my previous post being my first one (I joined some years ago, and I thought I had already posted something then). I've seen it now. Not that there's much to say, apart from saying "Hi from a newbie from Spain!", but I should have done so.

I know I'm not alone in this, although I cannot say I'm happy it's so. I don't know anything about laws, but I do understand that someone holding a contest in the US may not be able to send its price aboad. But I'm sure Fender should be able to make their local branches, distributors or whatever, organize similar giveaways.

I've often thought that maybe it's my fault, for joining Fender US, and that I should stick to Fender Ibérica (for Spain and Portugal, I've just checked it). But I'm of the opinion that there's always more activity and content in parent companies (oops, my English is slipping a bit here! Are they called so?), since that's whether all the people who haven't got a local branch will end up... Like, for example, Canadian people like guitslinger. And, in fact, I don't usually hear much from Fender Ibérica. I'm not a great user of all the available resources (like this forum) because I'm not a great user of the internet in general, but I'm sure that my time would be better spent here than in a forum only for Spanish users, just because it's less restricted.

And, oh, great idea that of Marvin65's! I'd never thought of not entering a contest so as to save luck for another more appealing! In fact, the ukelele giveaway has been the straw that's broken the camel's back for me, although I wasn't particularly interested in it.
