im not comfortable specificly going to a guitar teachers room and having them force me to learn songs at there own pace. so im pretty much self taught.

thats ok im not either.
thing is, i dont like teachers that teach songs period.
a good teacher will allow you to move at your own pace bro.
now some teachers will from time to time ask you if theres a song your interested in. they do this so you can take a break and get excited
about learning, just like breathing a breath of fresh air.
this is ok in my book. they keep it interesting. now some teach you short songs so you can use what you have been learning. this is so you can put to practice right away what they are teaching. this is ok too as theres a method to their madness.

I checked out and put it on my favorites list. I'm going to hit the free stuff first then if I can learn all of that I'll hit the pay side. 14.95 a month beats the $70 a week for lessons at the local school.

some of the best guys out there still take lessons. Jimmie Vaughan (self taught) said he still takes lessons in the July issue of guitar world. Working on music theory and other things.

Don't ever think there isn't something else you could learn or there won't be.

(yes I am a Big fan of the Vaughan Brothers)

Playing guitar is a constant learning process,no matter how good you are there is always room for improvement.Every guitarist from Allman to Zappa is picking up something new every day either from someone else or stumbling on it yourself.I don't think that ever was or will be a guitarist who is satisfied with his/her playing-except of course one guy named Malmsteen.

stop wasting time with the free crap and get in there and get busy
learning the heart of the matter. hey you will waste $14 this weekend and not know where it went anyways. stay home this weekend and get down to business bro. you will trip on what your missing.

i wish lol. nope just passing a good site to the forum.
i found them back in feb and joind the forums over there. did the free stuff
too. just kept kicking around the idea about joining the pay section.
the instructors are amazing. several of them ive seen on youtube.
so i finally said what the heck its only $14. i paid and tripped out on what i have found.
when i was first starting out 20 plus yrs ago, i wish we had a site like this.
man i could have seriously cut the learning time into a fraction.
i know theres a lot of newbie players here on the fender site and thought of how the couldreally use the guitartricks site. heck most of us can actually. its pretty cool. theres tons of extra stuff besides teaching on there too.
i feel if i discover something that will/can help others i should tell everybody. most of what im talking about ya gotta be a paid member to see so im spreading the word to you guys.
i was self taught and found after a couple decade that that was a big mistake on my part. i took music in college as a major but soon dropped out because they werent teaching me anything i didnt already know.
man what a mistake that was. i know it now lol.
being self taught, theres no way you will be up to speed with those that have taken lessons on the subject.
i cant help but to think of how far ahead i would be if i stayed with the course in school, lessons if you will.
there are those that will swear that they did just fine and that theres no way they would/could be any better if they took lessons.
lol they not only have fooled themselves but will try to fool you too.
nothing wrong with self taught, im self taught remember.
im just saying that having a teacher teaching you through something is always easier than going it alone. always.

heres one of the instructors.
from what i lnow, this isnt a lesson from thesite ok.
this is hanspeter. this guy is one of the best guitarists
ive ever heard. the guy is amazing. can shred with the very best of them too. hes just one of the high caliber people doing theteaching on there.
theres several styles to choose from. they go from very basic like how to hold a pick all the way up to the link your about to see and they guide you every step of the way.
would you pay for a lesson from this guy? how about for hours of lessons
from him? the lessons are in order back to back too.
check him out.

any thoughts so far?
after a few days looking at this site i realize theres tons of stuff i should have learned long ago. best money ive spent on my playing in a very very long time. all my books and DVD's ive bought over the last few months are gonna be given away lol.
im always searching for that "something missing".
dont need them any more.

Yeah, the female instuctor is not very attractive but she can play. Naturally, all the things I have looked at are on the pay side. I'll hit that soon.

Helping my wife get her classroom set up for this year. Not much time to sit down and do hand exercises right now, but once school starts, I'm on it.

I did a couple of months with guitartricks a couple years ago. I learned lots of stuff from them ( it used to be 10 bucks a month ). Now I use
http://www.justinguitar.com/ . Very comprehensive for a free site. Actually, I bet its probably the best free guitar site. I dig his reason for doing it. He relies on donations and product sales to keep it going. My playing has leap frogged since I have been using his lessons.Highly recomended.

of course you are. its never ending.
ive been playing around on a site for a couple months now.
so last night i figured i would pay for 1 month just to see what was going on.
theres tons of stuff a nonpay member cant see.
so i figured i would drop my $14.95 for 1 month just to see whats
on the site in full.
man i was shocked. couldnt believe the instructors they have on here.
yes tons of it i already know, but ive stumbled on some things i had forgotten, a few different ways at looking at what i already know, and theres bunches i dont know. what i thought might be a total waste of money has infact been worth the dime.
if your just getting started, or seasoned, theres something for you on this site that will make it worth your cash flow.
these guys know what they are doing when it comes to playing, and even more so when it comes to teaching it to you. check them out at

www.guitartricks.com

Thanks for the link!
