it just kills the value on our gear when it is counterfeited like this.

Quantify this loss of "value" please.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't mean the monetary value.

I think its just plain wrong.

Nice looking Tele he built for himself. I don't really take any offense to the use of the decal, since I too thought about putting one on the Tele I am building, but I decided to go without one. It just doesn't feel right putting it on there and anyone who knows about fender guitars will be able to tell a real from a fake.

Thats my point though. My friends don't really know about Fender guitars and were duped into buying fakes. Not all guitar players are as into it as us guys are and innocent people can get conned.

It is nice though aint it?

I feel like a guitar without a label on the headstock looks naked BUT that being said I would probably get my own special one made if I was building a guitar... Like one person did on this forum with the "frankin Steinocaster"

I thought that was pretty cool 8). I wouldn't feel right myself if I build a guitar and labeled it as something else.

It would need to be genuine

I thought that looked awesome and I loved the step by step pics.

I think it's fine that he put a Fender decal on it. It seems to me like he's just building these because it's what he likes to do not to try to fool someone into thinking it's a Fender.

If I were buying that from him I would probably think it was much cooler because he handmade it anyways. It's not a cheap Chinese fake being cranked out to make a quick buck.

If anybody with a dog in this fight wants to climb into the ring, this should be your issue......not some particularly-gifted craftsman who builds entirely for his own pleasure.

PERIOD, END OF STORY, NOTHING FOLLOWS!

Still, it could be sold someday. The guy isn't going to live forever.

The way I see it why put all this work in to it and (basiclly) give Fender the credit. If you are building a guitar then at least come up with your own logo to go on it. Besides how do we know it's not going to end up on E-bay or something later as an orig Broadcaster. There are bad fakes out there but there are also some pretty good ones as well. and there are people out there who wouldn't know the difference and just buy it because they think it's old and get taken. I put my own logo on my Esquire when I replaced the neck because Fender didn't make the neck so therefore it was no longer a Fender. That and the fact it was just bother me so much. Now I have people asking what kind of guitar it is because of the logo.

The guy admitted having build counterfeits in the past, on request.
Also, in the very first page of the thread when asked why put the Fender decal on it, he stated "Hopefully so I can sell it to some fool.".
Somewhere in the thread (pag.4) someone says Bard Paisley uses counterfeit Teles. Dead wrong, Brad uses Fenders and Crook guitars, which are clearly identifiable (different headstock shape and Crook logo).
So, yes, he has tons of skills.
Which are no excuse for having no morals and not taking any responsability for the possible consequences of your actions.

Decal or no decal, the thing that jumps out at me about this guy is resourcefulness, how many people see a table and think "Hmmm, yup, telecaster"?

If you are gonna quote the guy, atleast quote the whole statement as not to blur the meaning.

"Hopefully so I can sell it to some fool. JK[Just Kidding]."

Personally I think it is a really cool project.
