Would Let it Be Naked by the Beatles qualify?

I really like the Nirvana live unplugged album. There are a bunch of others that I can't think of right now.

Band of Gypsies-Live At The Fillmore East beats all comers hands down especially for Machine Gun alone, the most brilliantly played guitar of all time. With this one song Jimi took his place at the top of guitar hierarchy and will likely remain there for eternity.

Full House was a great album Mike.
Also from that era I'd say:
"Framptom Comes Alive" and...
"Humble Pie - Rockin' The Fillmore"
But, my vote for the best live recording (sound wise) would be..
Little Feat - "Waiting For Columbus"

I love that album! I don't know how I didn't think of that. Machine Gun is amazing. I also love Who Knows. I just love that album really but those two songs are my favorites off of it.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Voodoo Chile (a slight return) at Carnagie Hall. The only live version I have ever liked better than the studio version

Great albums, all.

To that I'd add the live side of Rare Earth's "Get Ready".
