I guess that by now everybody into playing guitar at all know's who Andy McKee is.Just in case you've been in the outer reaches of Alpha Centauri for the past couple of years,Andy is an absolute wizard of the fretboard with a unique, percussive tapping and hammering technique that defies description. It seems that lately Andy has sidelined his usually custom made guitars and is using a handcrafted Yamaha LJX26C acoustic electric. The guitar looks and sounds beautiful and apparently he used it exclusively on his latest CD.That's certainly a feather in Yamaha's hat to get an endorsement from such a groundbreakng player as Andy. From hearing what it sounds like in Andy's hands I think that if I was looking for an acoustic electric I'd get that Yamaha.

Oops I never thought of posting a link but he has quite a few videos on Youtube and his new CD is called Joyland.

Why would you think that anyone who plays guitar knows who he is . He plays Acoustic for 1 which not everyone does. Hes not on TV or the radio that Ive heard. None of my guitar playin friends (I have 1 or 2) have ever said anything about this guy. He is good but there are about a million good guitar players.

Hi Tbazzone I was just being facetious,he's getting all kinds of accolades in guitar mags and I was just getting on with a bit of light hyperbole. Time to lighten up.

I could buy the Yamaha, but I'm afraid it would sound just like me!

I had seen a youtube vid on Andy before, but this thread got me looking at his website. I see he tours with Eric Johnson. Can you imagine having the chops to play on the same bill with EJ??!!!
