I guess that other companies are shaking in their boots at the prospect of losing 5 or 6 guitars.

I don’t think there operating any different than any other guitar company. Many companies are going to great (maybe illegal) lengths to obtain hard to find woods. I believe Gibson in their arrogance just pissed someone off along the way and this was their wake up call that they don’t call the shots. ( 6 guitars really) if you’re using and buying illegal wood I don’t believe you only use it to build 6 instruments. Seems to me someone blew off their kickbacks in an attempt to exert dominance and was sent a wake up call that they need to play the game by the Mob’s rules or have their business threatened.
