Jake, wood-shedding is going to put you across the finish line 1st every time. You are without a doubt going to get the opportunity to be successful so the key is to be more than ready. Practicing, rehearsing, writing, repeat. Try not to think about the flea circus or the singing dog or what-have-you that is being pushed, when it is your time they will all be impressed because you will be the best Bro.

i will definitely take that advice to heart. if i only had people to play with that actually like good music. my friend plays guitar but he's more into metal, while i like blues and classic rock... btw where do u live in IL i'm in the south near marion.

I know the feeling. If you can get involved in your local blues jams. It helps you to meet people who may want to play with you in the future. And it's really great to be able to play music you really enjoy. Hang in there, and I'm sure an opportunity will present itself to you. :)

Also, don't be afraid to take any style of music and turn it into blues. The band I'm with now is an Indie/Alternative Rock band and I'm paid to play Albert King licks in it. It's not really an original idea, but most people seem to think it is. :P
