Nevin is the reason Australia may be headed for a hung parliament - which means he'll have the casting vote and the balance of power here.

Well, surely you've made him your head of state by now - no?

Anyhow. This summer I finally made it to the top of Everest. I struggled and toiled my way up from base camp; by the unwritten law of mountaineers those with injuries or altitude sickness were left behind to die on the glacier. It's a cruel mistress, the mountain.

As at last I clawed my way to the summit, gasping for oxygen, I was amazed to discover Nevin sitting nonchalantly on the peak, strumming his guitar. Not only that, but he was actually comfortably installed in the revolving restuarant on the mountain top with a cup of hot chocolate at his elbow - who knew that ski lift runs up the far side of Everest?

Well, Nevin did: obviously.

Cheers - C

PS The bit about me climbing Everest is a complete, utter lie.

EW!!!

So. We were in the MIR 2 submersible cruising along the bottom of the Mariana Trench in the Pacific, where the water pressure is 108.6 megapascals - a thousand times that at the surface. If exposed to it you'd be squashed flatter than a guitar pick in an instant.

We descended to 10,916 metres, the deepest any human has ever been - or so we thought till we looked out the tiny armoured window and saw Nevin swimming lazily past in his Speedos. He was dragging Dave Gilmour's #001 Strat behind him on its strap. Naturally the corrosive salt water was destroying the guitar but Nevin didn't care: he has much rarer Strats in his collection.

It's only because of modesty that the famous tremolo system isn't known as the "Nevin Rose" ... he let his friend Floyd get ALL the credit.

No? Well what about a Nevinsby vibrato then? Surely I remember right that you invented that one - while taking time away from showing Leo how to build single coils?

Nevin had a signature guitar built for him once, eventually the plan was for mass production due to overwhelming demand. That plan was cancelled was due to the fact in testing nobody except Nevin had enough talent to play said guitar and everyone else who tried spontaneously combusted and died.
