I just got home from a night at The Fat Cat Blues Bar in St. John's NL. The opening band was The Need, fronted by Chris Kearsey probably the absolute best guitar/amp tech east of Montreal,he played a Gretsch Duo Jet through my old 72 Marshall Artiste and got a wild sound. The Need played all original and went over large. The main act was Kujo with my nephew and protege Victor Lewis on lead vocals and shared lead guitar duties. They played all originals except for an old MC 5 song and blew the doors off the place,he was playing an Olympic White MIM Strat through my old Marshall-that I sold him and the other lead guitarist used an Epi Riviera through a Fender Blues Deville and what a deadly sound he got using only a Crybaby.I just love to get out and see younger players doing great original rock instead of the usual over played covers.Rock and Roll isn't dead in Newfoundland-it isn't even napping but alive and kicking out the jams.I'll try to post pix if they come out.

I agree. New music is cool. I don't mind a few covers if they do a little different take on it. Live music rocks. Fortunately I live in Chicago and there is good blues music any and everywhere.

Sounds cool bro!

As long as the spirit of rock n' roll is alive then the music will never die!

Hey guitslinger

Did you have a chance to see that Chris Kirby guy. I saw him three years ago in Toronto with his band Marquee (or something). He played a strat and was pretty good.

Playing the original rock ROCKSS

I have seen him a couple of times-he's a pretty good blues player but there are guys here that can blow him out of the water-we have a lot of gifted blues guitarists and a healthy blues community here.BTW Chris and my nephew are pretty good friends,
