Sorry its not a Fender :(

Got my first new guitar yesterday in over a year,
a Gretsch 5120. Its an entry level hollowbody in the Chet Atkins 6120 style. My first impressions are, its quiet big and cumbersome compared to my '52 tele. Its sounds great but it seems to go out of tune quiet easily. I think it will need some upgrading. However, it is quiet nice to play and absolutely looks fantastic.

Sounds like a cool guitar. Do you know where it was made?

Hi Paulie,
Great guitar. I've had mine for about a year now (stock) It did take me awhile to get used to it, this beast is different! Heres a pic of mine.

A wise and intelligent choice my friend.Does it have a Bigsby? Sometimes Bigsby equipped Gretsches are problematic when it comes to tuning. With a Bigsby the fewer winds around the posts the better and while replacing strings(one at a time only)you constantly have to work the Bigsby while tuning(moreso than a Strat)and stretch the strings every time you get them up to pitch until the problem ceases.Making sure that all possible string binding points- such as the bridge and nut-are well lubed is also imperative.

Paulie G,
I second everything guitslinger says. From my own experience flatwound 11s sound great, lot less finger screech on the neck too.
Try some deep reverb and "Apache" or "Ghost Riders".

Cheers,
John.E

Congrats on the new axe Paulie, it is a great guitar. Here's a pic of mine too.

I tried to manage the bridge moving while using the whammy bar for like a year, but in the end I was tired of always replacing it. So recently I had it glued by my guitar tech after he did a complete set up on it. Soft removable glue of course. So enjoy your guit and please post pics if you can. :)

Paulie,
No need to say sorry it is still in the FMIC family plus a little variety is not bad
Enjoy her...she is a great guitar! Here is mine, my awesome wife got it for me for our 6th Anniversary! Gotta love Gretschs.

Claude,
I changed my bridge to a Compton Compensated Stainless Steel Bridge...amazing tone and sustain! If you want the address let me know.
