I'll ask the one question I've never gotten a straight answer on. While your guitar/bass is at home closed up in it's case do you lay it flat on the floor or, lean it lenth-wise up against the wall? Or do you prop it up on it's side like a suitcase?

I stand the case up length wise against the wall, partially behind my amp.

+1. Stands are cheap and you play more if you can see them.

i keep mine standing upright in their cases

the reason.... 2 crazy dogs in the house, and the knowledge that they don't get damaged when the mutts are horsing around

I always keep mine standing straight up in the cases as then they are resting on the strap button but on the side or back the finish is in contact with the case fabric and over time can develop wear rash.BTW unless I'm using a certain guitar daily I keep it in the case where it is less likely to get knocked over-it's easier and cheaper to open a case than to bring a broken neck in for repair/replacement.

I've stored them flat (ie: under a bed), stood them up (like an attache case) and hid them upright in closets (body towards the floor). I don't really think it makes a difference, at least none that I've observed in four decades + of playing.

I'll just lay it flat as usual. As long as it doesn't harm the neck.

Thanks for replies.
