Tonight NLs premiere rock and roll band The Ducats is playing at one of St. John's oldest and biggest night clubs to celebrate 50 yrs playing.Sadly 2 or 3 of the original members have passed away but my very good buddy, lefty guitarist Lew Skinner and the other core members continue to play on.Back in the early 60s while gigging in Detroit a record producer heard them and offered them a permanent gig backing up a new girl group that I dare say you have all heard of.... they were called The Supremes.Lew and the boys being from a very small town thought that it would be too big a leap as they were all in their late teens or early 20s and turned it down.Anyway it should prove to be a fabulous gig.BTW Lew is a very good friend of Scotty Moore and several years ago when Gibson was still in Kalimazoo he asked Gibson to build a lefty version of his Gibson jazz box for his buddy Lew and they complied to his wishes, I hope Lew brings it tonight,I'll try to get pix.
