i have been wanting a distortion pedal yet im hesitant. I dont really know if i should get one or not. What do u guys think should i or shouldnt i?

i like playing the older stuff like ac/dc or george thourogood(i really like his bad to the bone)

it all depends on the sound you want if you want just a bit of durt go with a blues overdrive if you just want distortion boss makes a good one

You're the only one who can decide if you need/want a pedal of some sort. If you have a particular sound in mind and can't achieve it with the gear you have, then go to a dealer and try out a few pedals. If you find one you like, buy it.

Also, once you have a pedal in your signal chain you aren't bound to use it ALL the time. But, it will be there if you do need it.

I think it depends on the kind of amp you have.

Does the amp have built in distortion (gain or master volume controls)?

What does it sound like?

You could always go try out distortion pedals and/or other types of amps at your local music store.

Personally, I prefer amp distortion and I don't use any fuzz/dist pedals.

If you need a distortion pedal and you're not sure which to get, try the Boss DS-1. Boss makes great pedals and this is probably the least expensive pedal they make.
