It's not a definite thing, but my wife appears to be on the verge of losing her job. Her position is grant funded and it doesn't appear that it will be renewed. If that happens, I will be downsizing my collection to help pay off my medical bills from this year. I will probably look at selling my 2 year-old BDRI, my '06 Jimmie Vaughan Strat and possibly my '08 Jagmaster. I also have a 2000-2001 MIM Jazz Bass that may go as well. It stinks, but you do what you gotta do.

I am sure that I am not alone in having to do this. Has anyone else had to thin their herd due to the poor economy?

If you are in the KC area, I will probably be putting them on CL in the next couple of weeks.

I have been fortunate enough not to have had to downsize because of job/money issues. I downsized a few years ago to start my new Fender collection. Sold all my other guitars to get my first Fender Stratocaster in 20 years.

Sorry to hear that you are falling on difficult times, but the economy is making a slight turn-around. Hopefully your wife will not be out of work for long.

I know how bad you must be feeling, even though I have never been in the position that I had to get rid of any of my guitars I came close once and that was scary enough.I'd rather part with a kidney than a guitar,I hope that your situation doesn't come to that and that things get better for you real soon.

Thanks for the encouraging words. I am hoping it doesn't come down to this either, but I am bracing myself for it anyway. Even if she is able to keep her job, I may still need to cut something out just to help get the bills paid down. Please don't think I was taking food off the table to grow my collection. The medical stuff just happened and it looked like we would be okay paying on them. We are also looking at other ways to cut back either way it goes.

The JV Strat is new to my collection and I haven't had it long enough to grow any attachment to it. The BDRI, while sounding great, is just way too much amp. I'd really love to keep the Jagmaster since it's so different from the other guitars in my collection. But they can be had cheap enough if I needed to sell it and replace it at a later date.

Thanks again,
Jim

I have added 2 instruments thanks to the current buyers market, but I sold my MIJ Tele fotoflame and I still regret that! I actually liked it far better than my Hwy 1.
