last night i caught skynrd on sounstage :D

i saw them twice in the 70's- first about the time "second helping" was released, and again a few years later. they were a tight band.

i can't believe the only one left from that classic lineup is gary rossington. i am thankful the band is staying true to the songs, and not doing bad versions of great songs, as often happens when people are replaced.

one thing i noticed on the show was the amount of young people in the audience. they were probably not around during the band's heyday, but they sure know the words to the songs

now i just hope they get to my area soon.....

Skynyrd rules!

I watched the old grey whistle test several times and it is a real super performance.

I think good music once is always good music again, and even though somebody might not be old enough to have been a Skynyrd fan way back when, their music will always have a following.
I like their music but I'm not a fanatic like I am about the original Allman Brothers, and I've noticed the same thing with them and their fans, you have old people, their kids and their kids in the crowds.
Same with the Dead I'm told.
Those bands and Hendrix,SRV and others will always have fans...

Skynyrd was a refreshing relief to the disco craze of the era and their music remains as timeless today as it did when first released. We often open a set with "Saturday Night Special" or "That Smell".

Great tuneage!!!
