The spirit of rock and roll is dead.

I'd have to disagree with that statement Nevin bro. Sorry. It may be dead where you are but it certainly isn't over here. You should come for a night out with me and a few Irish bands.

Yes the industry is full of plastic crap these days but it is a changed industry. Great music is still out there and the bulk of it is amazing. Its just you have to search for it now. You aren't going to find it on the radio in these Cowell controlled times. Personally I've never listened to the radio as I dont like to be told what to like by anyone.

Times have changed! Ignore the crap and move with them!

Rock n' roll.

All good music is timeless anyway. Thats the beauty of art!

Today's music IMO, is missing originality and feeling. Now you can download songs instead of going to the record shop and buying a CD or in my case, a album on vinyl! We used to have a FYE near my house but they closed up over a year ago, so now I have to drive 10 miles to go to Newbury Comics to buy my CDs.

i know what you mean... i live practically down the street from what used to be an FYE... but ive found that newbury is MUCH better... their discs are actually realistically priced ($8-14, depending on the content) while FYE wanted $19 for Band of Gypsies

and just out of curiosity, was it the FYE next to shaws (i forget if its even a shaws anymore lol...)?

i know what you mean, every kid i know at school mocks me cause i like old/underground music, an they say get to date and stuff like that. My parents reckon its stupid that i buy CD's instead of just downloading them for free. they dont understand though, its not about being "in fashion", its about doing the stuff you like, you enjoy. i've convinced my only friend to listen to grunge, and he likes it, but he only likes mainstream grunge which i reckon is more alternative than grunge. An he goes around tellin everyone that its underground and raw. i wouldn't call albums like nevermind raw. Anyway thats not my point, my point is, that therse alot more better stuff than what the radio has to offer.

if only that digital audio hadn't of come along......

i totally agree with u... i think i missed a decade :? my favourite were 80's cause all the kinds of music were "there".

the 00s are gone & musically i have nothing to remember of them, its such a mess !

i think real music is by far gone. whats left is like a trashy mix of pop dance hiphop etc. music for the profit & especially music for the eyes not for the ears. i always liked a good show but only as a supplement of the music not the reverse.

its so sad

Incase anyone misunderstood my post,I'm not sayying that all of today's "music"is fecal matter as I buy lots of current CDS by excellent musicians and lyricists such as Belle and Sebastian,Nada Surf,Death Cab For Cutie,The High Dials,Apples In Stereo,Midlake,Middle East and dozens more....there is still hope for rock & roll.

agreed... people think i listen to "Emo" (the biggest joke of a genre) because my music has guitar and isnt about "B**chin *ss hoes" or money... and i get mocked for getting music legally (despite explaining that i prefer to have something that wont be lost with my computer should it crash and that i like to collect vinyls)

and then theres these *ss clowns like my chemical romance and all time low that call themselves punk.... if i ever met them i would spending the rest of my life in prison...
