Wow, this just caused a flashback! As a kid I used to take the tubes down to the drug store in a brown paper bag to find out which one was the offender.

I hadn't thought of that in decades!

Before TV.
Family gathered in room listening to a table model radio.
"The Shadow"......."The green hornet".....Jack Benny program
Bob Hope....................
First TVs round screens about 10 inches.
one or two channels............
Then years later Color TV.
Do you recall the brands, DuMont....Curtis Mathis (spelling ?)
Yeah I'm ancient.....this thread jogged a lot of memories.
Still rockin' on Saturday night if not a gig, practice in the
basement........
"ROCK ON Y'ALL.

Remember when they pumped the gas for you? And, washed your windows after checking your tires and oil.

People still had common sence and took responsibility for their actions.

Yeah Doc..
I remember it was the talk of the neighborhood that
Elvis was going to be on that night.
Only a few had tv then so about 5 of us gathered at a
friends house to watch.
I believe several of his first tv appearances were "censored".
If they only knew what was to come a few years later.
Way simpler times though.........but time marches on.
Have a good one.
Rock on

The only effects available were in your hands unless you were lucky enough to have an amp with reverb and/or tremolo.

Or to every bar in town with your two buddies. Each put in $2 to fill my 67 VW bug ... and we'd have enough left over from the $20s our folks gave us to pay the cover (usually $0.99) at the three or four bars in town with bands, have a few drinks ... play some pool ...

... then hit the late night spot for midnight breakfast. And still have some lose change rattling around in the ashtray.

When The Monkees was the coolest show on TV for those of us that wanted to be in a band.

Indeed!

Winchell's Donuts or Sambo's (depending upon how full that ashtray was and sifting out those coins from all the Lucky Strike and Pall Mall butts).
