remember when there were no cell phones and the entire population didn't walk while on the phone or worse, with their head down, eyes affixed to the 2.5 inch screen reading a text and texting. Remember when you got on the elevator and people didn't whip out their blackberry's in unison as soon as the elevator doors shut to see if someone may have contacted them since they last checked their Blackberry, which was likely while waiting for the elevator doors to open.

I remember video games where people looked like boxes.

Computers were huge and so were cell phones (and that having a cell phone was considered a status symbol)

People were less self centered.

Eating at Mcdonald's was waaaaay cheaper.

Gas was less than a buck a gallon.

A decent ranch home went for about 30,000.

Cars were cars...made well not made of Barbie plastic.

When g@y meant happy and when a dude was a guy who didn't know which end of the horse the food went into.
edit-the auto censor feature on the forum wouldn't print the word that rhymes with day and starts with g.

+1

When kids played on the sandlot instead of video games.

When phones had a cord.

No remote controls...the kids were the remote.

Vinyl...still love them.

And you almost broke your tooth because it was so stale, then the flavor was gone as soon as it was soft enough to chew.

the vacuum store is a lot like the guitar store. but they do not attract the same clientele as the guitar store, cause if they did, the vacuum store would be loaded with a bunch of broke guys who just wanted to run the new vacuums.

At the height of the cold war, we had air raid drills in school.

when parents were responsible..... just today i read about a local teacher, who is a single mom, complaining about the cost of supplies. she has a mortgage, a loan against it, and high balances on her credit cards. i don't deny help should be available to those who truly need it, but man, use some common sense.

when dads had the last say in family matters. when your dad said "no" to something, that was the end of things, and moms supported dad's decisions.

i remember my dad telling me that when i wanted something out of the family norm, i could get it when i find a way to earn money for it. today i own my own house, have some great gear, and an understanding wife and kids.
