I busted when Prince almost fell off the stage in that youtube vid.

I do have to admit, I like Prince's guitar playing. I'm just a beginner but I do play with a lot of passion. I can imagine falling off the stage playing. Plus, I think I have that hat in black at home. :P

Who are Ron Asheton and Rik Emmet? The name of the first guy almost comes to my mind...

The thread is decently titled. All you can do about those "best anything" lists is laughing. I mostly refuse to look at them.

They think Kurt Cobain was as good as Ritchie Blackmore on the guitar. I think they need mental help.

Greatest guitarist lists compiled by people that think a video game has anything to do with music. I would wager that none of the people involved in creating those lists has ever actually played a guitar and none of them has played a guitar as a profession (making a living). 10 years from now they will probably have Michael Jackson as #1 and Lil Wayne as #2 with the Jonas Brothers tied for#3

lago, Ron Ashton was the original guitarist for the Stooges, W/ Iggy Pop. Good aggressive player, He just died last year. Huge cult following. ( I like him myself) and Rik Emmett was the guitarist for the Canadian band Triumph. Big in the early eighties. Great Guitarist. 8)

Thanks Marvin! I must admit I never heard any Stooges album, but I know some of their songs. I should go and check Triumph now :)

Jack White was in the movie It Might Get Loud with Page and the Edge

Here are his "amazing" guitar skills

Don't get me wrong, he is a "good" player but I wouldn't say his name even belongs on the top 100 all time list.

Who cares, it is a list. Everyone knows I am number 1 anyways.

You know i was just about to say...

"Where the funk is Nevin?"

Clearly the best player to ever grace a Gibson

Enjoy!

At least they had just enough brains to put SRV a notch above Jack White.

These lists are really just a popularity contest anyway. It's like stopping a random person on the street and telling them to name 25 guitar players. There are scores of players not even mentioned that are at least as good as the players that are.

As far as the Jonas Brothers, I think that's why I passed on the Gibson SG. I just couldn't do it.

I'm sorry Black Cat Bone, I tried... But I was not able to sit through that whole jack white thing. I am a fan of some punk, but I never saw a reason for jack white and the white stripes getting all the attention they have had. I have never been a fan. 8)
