Hi all.

I would like to make the group aware if you are not all ready up to speed on it.
On e bay you can buy almost anything, the other day I saw a sale for custom made fender neck plates. This person makes then with pictures of bands, zombies Frankenstein and he has 9 different designs of ones he calls the "Custom shop" line.
After looking through them, I bought one that reads Limited edition custom shop.
Now, my guitar that I put it on is a FSR run guitar, but it is not from the Fender custom shop, it is in fact a MIM unit.
The seller will let you put a serial number of your choice on some of them, mine is the No#9 and I had my Harley riding clubs number put on it.

Now I am a ethical man, I would never try and sell this guitar with that plate on it, I would replace it with the stock unit if i ever do sell it.

These units are laser engraved, nothing like the deeply engraved ones the Fender shop makes, so they should be easy to spot if someone asks if a guitar is a CS or a fake.

Here is a picture on what it looks like on my guitar.

The heads up is appreciated. You need to know that we have sooooo been down this road before....most recently in the past 6 months.....a really heated thread about the ethics of it all. At the end of the day, it becomes the company's responsibility to protect its interests, and each of us to decide, for ourselves. Caveat emptor remains the watchword in any market where doubt may exist. 8)

How about we order up some Fender Lounge limited edition neck plates for our guitars.

Unless Fender wants to make them for us, Brad? They should store pretty well in your desk drawer.

He has stated on his web site he can do any picture or design you would like.

The sticking point would be getting permission from the website here to use there artwork.

Maybe if the site would sell one time license to us so we could make one plate, this way the site retains control of it's artwork, and we can get a custom plate we would like to.

Your missing the point of the entire issue. It's unlikely that FMIC is going find itself in a business relationship with someone who sells counterfeit company hardware which can be used to perpetrate a fraud. That was the subject of the enormous discussion we entertained some months ago. ...counterfeiting in hardware and COA's

Interested parties ought to search out that thread, sit down with a brew, and prepared themselves for a few minutes  of heavy duty reading. There may even have been, if memory serves me correctly, more than one thread on this issue and made the TBO thread look like a children's bedtime story.

That's one of them, but this one was mild. Should be read again, though. The other is really heavier duty. :? Might find it in the earlier part of the year like Jan/Feb.

It was quite a long debated conversation Doc! If I remember it correctly it got very heated at times. Discussion/opinions of law, morality, etc.!!

I think Brad eventually locked the thread you're talking about.
