no but a cheap cable will not help with the tone sucking that pedal boards can cause.

to have all those nice pedals, i dont want to skimp on the connections.
there will be signal loss along the way. its the nature of things.
thats one reason all-in-one rack units became so popular yrs back.

I use these wherever possible:
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=330079
or
http://accessories.musiciansfriend.com/ ... sku=330080

Makes for a very tidy arrangement and although I've never checked, I would expect that impedance is about as minimal as you can get.

I build my own using Belden J8412 shielded two-conductor cable and premium Skilcraft mil-spec plugs. I haven't had one fail yet.

Shouldn't be....two different sku's, but if you are getting the same part, type in the sku in the search box for Musician's Friend.

Yes, the link isn't taking you far enough. Just type in 330079 in the box where it says "key word or item #", then click go. Repeat the process for 330080.

I had the exact same logic about using cheap-ish cables to run all my pedals. But about 7 years ago I changed my mind because over a 3 month span of time I had THREE patch cables die on me at gigs, and of course, this stopped my entire rig from working until I figured out what the problem was. So after the third time, I swore I'd never use crappy cables again. I switched to all Monster cables on my board, and I've never had one go out on me [knock on wood]. So if you're a gigging musician, it's definitely something to think about...
