just got back from CD warehouse.
(a used cd store)
i was looking for some new blues cd's to listen to.
the selection was slim, they said they just couldnt keep blues disks
in very long.
i noticed two disks "blues guitar heaven" volumes 1 and 2.
they have everybody on them from, clapton to sleepy john estes to
jr. wells even. just finished listening to both straight through.
all the songs on them are heavy blues guitar filled.
if you can find them i suggest you pick them up.
what are some other blues guitar filled cd's do you guys listen to?

Muddy Waters- Folk Singer is at the top of the list. EVERY blues fan should own this CD. This IS the BLUES. Muddy, a young Buddy Guy and Big Willie stripped down to two acoustic guitars and a standup bass.

others:
Otis Rush- The Essential Otis Rush
Junior Wells- HooDoo Man Blues
Any cd by Skip James or Son House
Lonnie Johnson- Blue Guitars vols 1 and 2

If you want a great sampling, Try to find a 3 cd set called "The Blues, From the Vaults" zzIt holds some of the greatest recordings by the original artists, Dating from the 1920s to the 60s. I found this "Gem" at Walmart (of all places) for only $7.00

Bill

i;ll look for it. i do like digitally remastered recordings of older blues. i just dont like to listen to that old dry crisp sound that old recordings seem to have had.

I bought one about ten years ago called 'The Roots Of Taj Mahal'
It's on Catfish Records UK and the tracks sound authentic enough. Good stuff actually. 23 tracks, I suppose I could list them here.
So if you're interested:-

1. Milk Cow Blues - Sleepy John Estes
2. Come On In My Kitchen - Robert Johnson
3. Sugar Mama - Sonny Boy Williamson
4. Statesboro Blues - Blind Willie McTell
5. John The Revelator - Blind Willie Johnson
6. Lining Track - Leadbelly
7. Corinna Blues - Blind Lemon Jefferson
8. Everybody Ought To Make A Change - Sleepy John Estes
9. Stack O'Lee Blues - Mississippi John Hurt
10. Sweet Home Chicago - Robert Johnson
11. Sophisticated Mama - Washboard Sam
12. Good Morning Little Schoolgirl - Sonny Boy Williamson
13. Fishing Blues - Henry Thomas
14. Keep Your Hands Off Her - Leadbelly
15. You're Gonna Need Somebody On Your Bond - Blind Willie Johnson
16. Railroad Bill - Will Bennett
17. Divin' Duck Blues - Sleepy John Estes
18. Dust My Broom - Robert Johnson
19. Motherless Chile - Barbecue Bob
20. Sittin' On Top Of The World - Mississippi Sheiks
21. Walkin' Blues - Son House
22. Frankie And Albert - Mississippi John Hurt
23. Piccolo Rag - Blind Bob Fuller

www.catfishrecords.co.uk and I think it only cost me about five quid.
