While I only play in my bedroom/office, I have always felt that good instruments will make you want to learn more and get better. Bad stuff frustrates you and you quickly give up (my situation in the past). I have a SCXD, and while I love it, it was just missing something. I felt I was working too hard to get the sounds (if I was able to get them at all).

So, after reading ANY post on this board about the Deluxe Reverb RI, and seeing the almost 100% fawning by everyone (profesionals and otherwise - really no other amp comes close to its unanimity), I decided I needed one. After browsing lots of places (you know, the usual suspects) for several months for a good used one, I found a Guitar Center with a fair price (and they have a "warranty").

Bottom Line: If God wanted the angels to play him a song, the guitarist would be playing thru a Deluxe Reverb ... on a Fender Stratocaster ... using the Clean Channel (I cannot decide if I wish it had reverb or not) ... on the middle pickup. It is that pure and honest.

Hallelujah! :)

I gotta have reverb, so I kinda got used to the vibrato channel, I just turn the treb a bit, sounds so sweet! Neck+middle is my favorite tone so far, clean of course.

Deluxe Reverbs sound like frying bacon smells.

Congrats on a fine score!

Ditto.

Except, 'use the old Cyber-Twin on DR and '59 Bassman settings. Yes, even with many settings on amps like C-T and the old Vetta, the DR and 4x10 Bassman are the heads-up champs. What superb sounds.

And if it's a long program, the angel should also play a Jazzmaster and Jaguar with both pups on.

+1 to your statement.

Up until recently, I was using SCXD which is good and loud for what it is and for my needs. But now after I bought DRRI oh man!!!! It is that yummy.
