Anyone know if Fender is going to try this, because in the recent past we saw a lot of cool ideas going from one company to the other. I saw the ad on the Ernie Ball MusicMan forum. They take birdseyes maple necks and heat them until they are nice and brown. The look is stunning. :)

Hi Claude,
I thought this was going to be some funky chicken neck recipe :D :D :D

I have seen that technique on regular woodworking pieces, never thought about it for a guitar neck. Your right, its a beautiful thing

Claude,
That is interesting...I bet it would look amazing on either Oly White or LPB...wow. But I have to admit, the tint on my new MIM LPB Strat is absolutely flawless. I love playing that guitar because the neck not only plays and feels great but looks so sweet..:)

It does indeed look nice, but is it worth the extra cash?

Apparently It makes the neck more durable and resistant to warpage and the like according to Suhr and Anderson

Curly maple acid stain, it will burn the neck to bring up the flame and grain.

Been used for hundreds of years now.

Yeah , I read the copy about the supposed benefits and quite franklyto me it sounds like a lot of Star-Trek techno-babble sales talk.

I'm not against it if it helps tone.

...Coming next to a guitar shop near you: guitar bodies done with the same treatment.

Well reading my post I have never been bashful about my second favorite guitar maker- a guy has to own some axes with humbuckers.lol But I will have my order in next week for mine and those necks are just off the chart. I believe Fender will hop on board sooner or later. Guys can say what they want but the minute you see a Strat or Tele with one you will not be able to stop drooling for 24 hours.
