This special is being run on many PBS stations. We watched it last night. It was a great story of how the man has lived his life and now is trying to live with himself after all the trouble and prison time he's done.

Country music - 3 chords and the truth! Check you local listings for a great documentary with plenty of Fender gear (amps, guitars). 8)

Thanks for the heads-up....Rolling Stone did a story/interview on him last year. He lives his life his way, come what may. Lot to be said about that.

Lots of cameo interviews with many rockers, country and record (A&R) types.

I'll have to check that out.
A friend of mine who played with Waylon had the privelege of Merle singing on a song he recorded....Merle sung the verse and if you weren't told about it,you would still instantly recognize that voice.
A true hard core country star...they don't make 'em like him anymore.

Great interviews with his band, 'The Strangers' too, along with Keith Richards, Billy Gibbons, etc..

I saw it here on Ch 2 earlier in the week and they ran it again last night. Very interesting story. I really like the American Masters series. They've done one for John Lennon, too, but I don't know if it's still coming or if I missed it already.

...........I find out about this off-hand at dinner yesterday evening as an
"oh by the way did you see??????????????. Nobody knows how to pick up a phone......except when they're walking down the middle of a crowded street in Manhattan at midday looking like a Borg talking to themselves. :?
