I like the simplicity of the Tele ... simple volume and tone, no third pickup to deal with. And if take that a step further and use some basic amp settings and few/no FX ... it's very close to just you and your fingers determining what comes out.

As for country -- well sure, but I've seen many country artists using Strats and nowadays more than a few LPs, PRS, etc. out there too. On the other hand, I play mostly blues (particularly more traditional rural type blues), "electric" folk and mellow jazz. I particularly like the Tele on traditional blues as an alternative to acoustic.
