What will a Tele bring to me?

Come on Tele players! Enlighten me! I can't make up my mind on buying a Telecaster.
What will I do without the middle pickup? Or do I buy the one with three pickups? I love listening to Tele players (Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, Mike Stern (now has his own Yamaha model based on his Telecaster), Brent Mason (now a Valley Arts signature model)... But I mainly play Strats. So...

Muchas gracias for your answers!
(No, I don't speak Spanish!)

A Telecaster is a little different animal from a Strat. The feel, the tone, etc. just aren't the same. So, adding a Tele to your arsenal will only enhance your tonal and playing abilities.

I borrowed my buddy's '52 Butterscotch Telecaster for a weekend and BOY does it roar! I mean, I'm a Strat/SG guy myself but the Tele was just so twangy and had such a different tone from my guitars. Definitely on my list of TO BE PURCHASED!

Hi guys. Yes, I guess I should go and play a couple of Teles. But, I still like to hear what you Tele players have to say. It's interesting to hear about it. Thanks!

Of course you need Tele. It compliments the Strat "sonically" plus you can sound like Bajaga :lol:

Just joking about the "Bajaga" comment. I find Teles the easiest playing guitars for some reason.

You need a guitar that can play country music and act as a useful self defense weapon.

I don't know about this country music stigma. Teles can be used to play Mozart if you wish 8). There are a lot of Tele players in the world that don't play country and sound awesome. Nothing wrong with country music just saying....

After many years of being a Stratocaster (or Stratocaster-style guitar like a G&L Nighthawk) player, I bought a Telecaster...

I haven't given up the Strat, and I constantly vacillate between which of the two I love or play more, but the Telecaster brings things to the table that no other guitar can/will bring.

Stratocaster=Sparkle and Spank
Telecaster=Swagger and Twang

Yes you do, it has to have a Ash body and a rosewood neck.

Why?

One word..........Sizzle!

No one NEEDS more then one of two guitars, unless your a professional gigging guitarist that can be called into step in for some or do a recording session.

With this said, if you play a Tellie and you love that Tellie then you should buy that Tellie as it will get you to play more.[/u]
