Hi Fender guys!

I have this issue. I've always played on a clean channel.

Our soundguy told me that playing a tubescreamer on a drive-channel really gives it more sound, and is the way to put it.

But if I do that, then I can't use the clean channel when I switch off my drive....?? Any suggestions?

Tell us what amp you're using. That will help us give suggestions. Right now the only thought I have is that your soundguy is kind of nutty.

LOL :-) I'm playing on a Marshall Combo, soon upgraded to a Bugera v55.

But it's true. It does sound much better. Should i just turn the drive all the way down so it's kinda clean, but still on the dirty channel or?
First I thought the same, YOU'RE NUTS! :D

there' probably no correct way to do it. it's just a matter of preference.

here is what i have done. i have put it in the clean channel. i can then switch with the footswitch between clean and distortion, and have a separate amount of distortion with the drive channel, giving you 1 clean sound, and 2 different distortion sounds.

this works for me. spend a few hours playing around, and you'll find the right way for you.

I do it very much the same way. Set the volumes of both amp channels to be equal. Set the drive channel to have modest drive (crunch). Then I set the tubescreamer at a higher volume for soloing and with sufficient drive for a bluesy sound on the clean. This will yield significant distortion (not metal though) on the drive channel. Results in two sounds for rhythm and two for solos.

I used to play with a Blue Deluxe RI and a TS808 clone.

I always found the best sound with the drive channel set so that it was clean if I played softly and just, JUST breaking up when I dug in - then the TS808 set relatively clean but with the level up so that it pushed the amp...

That's just my taste though...
