Our girl Rebecca (texasguitarslinger) continues to make a splash with her playing. A few hours ago, I had the pleasure of listening to her perform the Albert Collins number "Don't Lose Your Cool" at a open-mic night at the National Guitar Workshop in Austin. She absolutely burned down the house.

And that's not even the best part of my braggin' on her.

Earlier in the evening we enjoyed a two-hour clinic by two guitar greats: Hubert Sumlin (of Howlin' Wolf's band) and Steady Rollin' Bob Margolin (of Muddy Waters's band). As they were wrapping things up, Hubert gave a shout-out to one person in the audience.

He said, "Where's Rebecca? There she is. Let me tell you something, ladies and gentlemen. That girl can play."

I guess he had caught her playing somewhere in town the night before and had been duly impressed with her chops. And let me tell you something, my fellow Fender enfusiasts: Hubert Sumlin knows what he's talking about. 8)

Don't be mad at me, Rebecca. We're all just so proud of you around here, and I knew everyone would want to know about this.

Did you take a vid and post it on you tube so we all can see her play?

God I hope so, sounds like a heck of a show.

russianracehorse, thanks for posting, so cool that you were there to see Rebecca (texasguitarslinger) play live! Hubert was here in Chicago a couple of weeks ago jamming with Jimmy Mayes a drummer/singer (who played with Jimi Hendrix in Joey Dee and the Starlighters), Tommy Ashe a local guitarist and my drummer Frank Iffland. I felt that vibe when I read your post Bro. It is a small world for sure. You hit the Fender Forum music world right between the eyes when you wrote "We're all just so proud of you around here, and I knew everyone would want to know about this." We are with you 200% RR!

Russianracehoarse,

Those are awesome accolades for TGS. Talent knows talent, that's for sure. She definitely has something special in her. I wish I could have gone.
