Sounds good Nevin!! That could be played in the background of a beer, etc. commercial!! :P Heck, they pay people good money for that kind of stuff!!

With the Tiger pic we could use it to introduce the LSU Tigers Football team!!

The only reason it has a tiger photo is because I stole it from the website I was reading at the time. Shamwow Doot Doot is the temporary title haha.

Haha, I think that was really good!! :D
And I LOVE the title, even though it is temporary.

Also, one bit of a repeating riff you play in there sounds like a riff from "Sweet Emotion". Just saying. :P

All guitar parts were played on my Stratocaster (single coils). I can't remember how many parts I did. The main riff is doubled quite a few times each played with a slightly different amp tone. When I record I always lay down a center track which is my normal guitar tone and that gets spread to both channels, and then double it with cleaner settings that are panned to either side of the channels.

It is kind of like this from left channel, to right channel:

Cleaner than normal -- Normal -- More dirty than normal.

This makes it sound fuller and more complex. Overdub as many times as needed.

The bass is really low in the mix but that is not overdubbed. There are a few minor guitar parts that you can hear in the background. They are all recorded without overdubs.

For drums I use a program called Leaf Drums. It is actually a looper, but I programmed it into a drum machine. I can basically tab out a song on drums and it will play it at whatever tempo I want.

I use Cool Edit Pro as my recording software. The drums get the most treatment. I add reverb etc to them.

I used my old Digitech RP200 plugged straight into my PC mic input. That goes directly into Cool Edit Pro and that's about it.

that's awesome thanks! you have inspired me to do the same one day soon. I have an rp150 which I use to connect my guitar to my computer. I use the freeware audacity just because i don't know any other program that is free.

I will have to look into this leaf drum program since i don't have a drum machine. Now i just use the standard sample loops they have built into the rp150

well thanks again and keep on rockin'

This is a screenshot of my drum program. It will make sense how it works when you take a look at it.

Basically it is loaded with sound clips of a drum kit. You can then write the drum song.... very similar to tablature.

In the screenshot I have it programmed to play Breed by Nirvana. You can see it plays the opening pattern six times and then goes on to the next pattern.

Hard to explain. I want some beers now.

how big of a program is that? i am trying to find a place where i can get it

The recording software is the most important part. You need to have a good multi track program.

For me the most frustrating thing is drums. I am not a drummer first of all, and making a program sound like good drums is not easy.

I also have an old 4 track recorded and some mics.... but that is only when I want to get a really good guitar tone. Too clumsy to work with.

so do you have a link to where you can download patterns for leafdrums?
every time i go to a page, it seems to be for other programs

nevermind... i tried this program. way too complicated for me. I will stick to a drum machine (my bro has one) or use the preset loops on the rp150

don't forget to post your next creation. Do you have any other bits online that you have done?
