The bands I'm into are too numerous to list, but I'll try to be concise. I grew up listening to The Beatles, early Stones, The Who, The Small Faces, The Kinks and other British blues, R&B and beat groups of the 60's mainly because that's what my parents were into and that was the stuff you'd hear playing at home. Throughout my early teens and into my twenties I listened to post-punk, new wave, gothic/darkwave and shoegaze/dreampop bands. As such, my favourite bands of all time are:

The Chameleons
Kitchens of Distinction
Echo & The Bunnymen
Joy Division
New Order
Wire
For Against
Cocteau Twins
Slowdive
Mephisto Walz
Lush
Bauhaus
SIANspheric
Siouxsie & The Banshees
Clan of Xymox
The Fall
Alison's Halo
The Jesus and Mary Chain
Sad Lovers and Giants
The Cure

A few current bands that I'm really into these days are:

The Meeting Places
Tears Run Rings
Snowden
Thrushes
Bethany Curve
Air Formation
Mahogany
Film School
A Shoreline Dream
I Love You But I've Chosen Darkness
Interpol
We Were Promised Jetpacks

I'll keep mine to five.
Family in Sheffield, Jan 1970 - blew the headliners - The Nice, away. So good they were frightening.
Pink Floyd in Bristol on a Saturday Afternoon in 1971 with "the Azimuth Co-ordinator"
Fairport Convention in 1970, the encore Rock'n'roll set showed Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol at their best.
Keef Hartley "Big Band" driven by the basic trio of Anderson, Hartley and Thain.
Uriah Heep 1973-1975. Hensley, Byron, Box, Thain and Kerslake. GaryThain's Jazz bass through two Sunn bass-bins with Lee Kerslake's Body Drumming was mind blowing. David Byron sang his heart out. Mick Box produced sounds from his Gibson SG you wouln't believe and Ken Hensley, multi talented multi instrumentalist, was brilliant.
