I've only had one guitar stolen and that was almost 25 years ago while in the process of moving.I had removed all my guitar except 2 from the houseThe 2 I left didn't have cases so I intended to return with cases to bring them to the new house. When I got there the next day there were obvious signs of a break in,all that was taken was a $70 Raven acoustic and a cheap pair of stereo speakers.Right across the room from the Raven was a 63 Hagstrom Corvette-one of less than 1,400 made in a 3 year period-that cost $750 in 1963.I figured that the culprit was a neighbourhood punk that knew that I had the guitars but was bright enough to know that the Hagstrom was rare and very difficult to shake in such a small town where everyone knew everone. The cops also suspected him right from the start but of course he was used to B and Es and wore gloves.

Hey guys, I was at my friends gig on Saturday at The Empire in Belfast. My friend is Ray Haller from Sweet Savage (Metallica covered their song Killing Time and Vivian Campbell was once their Lead guitarist for those who don't know) although it was his cover band Rough Diamonds who were playing.

Anyway what we here call 'bad craic' happened. After the show someone stole his new Duff McKagan signature P-Bass and the culprits, a young couple, were caught on CCTV walking out the back door with it. There is a reward for anyone who can trace it. I'm guessing its VIP to the Iron Maiden show that Sweet Savage are opening.

Ray is gutted and was nearly in tears over the whole thing and every muso in Ireland is trying to hunt this bass down.

Have any of you people had anything stolen over the years? Did you see it again?

CC

That is a rough story. Sorry to hear that your friend's bass was stolen. He did report it to the police? I hope he had the Serial Number and pictures of it.

Never talk the price your gear is worth in public, someone will take it. Thieves suck!!!

Yeah rkreisher the police know about it. Ray is very well known in these parts and very well liked so everyone is trying their best to help him out. He's opening for Iron Maiden soon and got the bass specifically for that show as a treat to himself and hasn't had it long. The damn thing has hardly been played and is probably being mistreated by scumbags.

Sucks big time. I hate that 5h1t.

Unfortunately yes, back in 2003 I had inherited a 1958 Gibson Les Paul that my grandfather left me. After about 2 months of owning it we had a break-in, they took everything from pots and pans to video games to cell phones and yes my 1958 Gibson Les Paul along with my cables and pedals (they tried to make off with my Marshall JCM 800 but couldn't make it very far) I haven't seen the pedals my cables or the guitar since

Hi D3...Vintage Guitar Magazine offers free ad space to anyone who has had guitars and other gear stolen.Whereas 53 Les Pauls are rare most guitar dealers are and reputable pawn shops are wary when some guy waltzes in off the street with such a rarity.A lot of dealers and pawn shop owners subscibe to VG to keep up with vintage gear prices and I imagine that includes what's floating around that's hot.Their website is www.vintageguitar.com if you provide them with the serial No. and where and when it was stolen it may help.

I had my rig all set up at my keyboardist's house which is where we always jammed. A bass player who was a buddy of my keyboardist (I never liked him) stole an MXR Distortion + from me. Typically, when I leave I'd only leave my amp. But I was going to be gone only a few 30 minutes or so. When I came back, it was gone. That bass player even admits he came in the empty house when we were gone. He was the ONLY one there. But he denied taking it and was quite offended by the accusation. I let it go ... as all my proof was circumstantial. Small potatoes compared to what some of you have experienced, but it still pisses me off...
New lesson for me: Don't leave anything out with nobody to watch it EVER ... even just "for a few minutes".
