Hey guys, I was at my friends gig on Saturday at The Empire in Belfast. My friend is Ray Haller from Sweet Savage (Metallica covered their song Killing Time and Vivian Campbell was once their Lead guitarist for those who don't know) although it was his cover band Rough Diamonds who were playing.

Anyway what we here call 'bad craic' happened. After the show someone stole his new Duff McKagan signature P-Bass and the culprits, a young couple, were caught on CCTV walking out the back door with it. There is a reward for anyone who can trace it. I'm guessing its VIP to the Iron Maiden show that Sweet Savage are opening.

Ray is gutted and was nearly in tears over the whole thing and every muso in Ireland is trying to hunt this bass down.

Have any of you people had anything stolen over the years? Did you see it again?

Hi CC, my Telecaster, strap, cable, fuzz pedal and wah pedal (tweed hard case) were stolen in October '68. I have not seen them since.

Jees, Solid bro. Thats a bad one!! That would destroy me. I had a guitar vandalised once but nothing ever stolen. Ray is gutted as he just got the bass and was loving it too.

We were a house band in in town, and we had 4 of our single 12"/horn monitors screwed into the stage with a "L" hinge bracket. Got to work one night and someone had ripped them right up from the floor. Of course, no one who worked there saw a thing.
Otherwise than that, I've been lucky considering all the dives I've played at.

I can't believe the balls of some people mate. The Empire is a pretty nice place to play but no musician has ever liked the place you have to store your gear in the main bar downstairs: its just a door between your favourite guitar and the cold streets of Belfast.

Apparently Ray was talking to guys before the show about his gear snd saying how much the Duff bass cost etc so it was either these people or someone overhearing the conversation. The bass wasn't even in its case and it was raining on Sat night so its the fact its most likely being mistreated thats eating him up. Its eating most of us guys here up as we really do feel for the poor man. Ray is one of the good guys too which makes it worse!

Hi CC,

I've never had any of my guitars stolen but then I haven't played a gig since it was 21!

I sincerely hope Ray gets his bass back and the thieves get a dealt with accordingly.

There are very few things in this world that would cause me to go on the rampage (i'm a very very chilled out kinda guy) but someone stealing one of my guitars would probably make me loose the plot big style.

Andy

Same here Andy. If someone ever stole my number one 'Lexi' I would be searching methods of torture on google once I caught them.

Here's hoping he gets it. I went round all the pawn shops in Belfast today with a photo and details for him. Rotten. The gig was great too so it runied his night.

no sir, no flame throwers. its like a rack of ribs with sauce on them, slow cookin is best, beside a log at a time we can watch their facial expressions.
