Anyone have any?
Here's one for you.

Back around 1985 I wanted my first real Fender Strat, I went to a music store that offered financing which was about a 45 minute drive. I purchased a brand new 1985 Fender MIJ Strat in red (man what a guitar it was, i still regret selling it). I was stoked and almost crashed a few times staring at it while driving home, I couldn't afford a case....or even a gig bag.
I brought in into my apartment and plugged it in. I was very concerned that in certain positons on the selector switch the guitar would make an annoying hum..

I brought the guitar back to the store the next day and voiced my dis-pleasure. After the store personnel had there fun with the guitar noob, I left the store with some new guitar knowledge about single coil pickups...never to return

Hi beantown: I have plenty of embarrassing on-stage moments, not all of which I care to mention.

Some of the usual ones: taken a leap and pulled my jack out resulting in no sound as I hit the big chord.

Fallen backwards over a monitor, landing so hard on my back I couldn't catch my breath for a minute. Wild laughter from everyone else: bruising for the ego.

Turned to the mic to sing a backing line, caught the stand with the neck of the guitar knocking it flying; resulting in no vox.

In earlier days as a drummer I used to finish by setting off a homemade smoke bomb and leaping over the drumkit. That went wrong in various predictable ways.

And my pièce de résistance: went to do the big Pete Townshend windmill, missed the strings but caught my hand on the selector switch, resulting in the switch tip flying off and hitting the bass player on the nose. (I say the nose; I may have improved that bit of the story over repeated tellings...)

Howzat? Embarrassing enough for ya? :D

Cheers - C

Yea, most of my embarrassing moments involve either guitar solos or vocal cracks.. So bad sometimes I just felt like giving up. But resilience is a virtue. I've usually had some of my best nights the next show.

My most embarrassing moment?
My first gig in front of an audience, about 40 years ago. I played bass in a group called "Darling" and we played at some free festival with a lot of other bands. I was really nervous, and when we were announced, we got on stage. I walked with my guitar in hand to my amp. tripped over some wire and fell flat on my face. I even got some applause, my first applause ever.

Good stuff guys.

yeah Tochai I did the too short strap thing once myself, got it right off the nose, eyes were watering for awhile, lol. It still gives me the shivers when I remember how bad it hurt. I'll never do that again.

My first time on stage was pretty embarrassing... I went to the weekly blues jam at the local blues bar in St. John's Newfoundland called The Fat Cat and told the lader I wanted to play Pride & Joy... I thought it would be a nice easy song for me to play... then the band started and my mind went blank. I looked at my hands and thought... what are these things for? I finally snapped out of it and just played a shuffle with the guitar volume turned way down. When it came time for a solo the band leader looked at me and said "You ready?" and with a deer-in-headlights look I mouthed "NO!". It went downhill from there. The band was cool though, they bought me beers for the rest of the night and welcomed me back the next week. The second time didn't go much better.

I dont know have any interesting ones but my guitar teacher told us one of his in class one day. He had convinced his grandpa to let him use his old 12 string guitar on the condition that hed be very careful with it. It needed to be restrung so my teacher bought two sets of regular strings not knowing that he needed special ones. when he had strung and tuned it up it snapped the neck off the guitar. Then he took it to a guitar shop to get it fixed and had to explain what had happened to the amusement of the store employees. hows that for embarrassing
