I had an original 80's Ibanez AD9 (analog). Tried many since and oddly enough the only one that could kind of nail it was a recent and very inexpensive @ $30.00 Behringer analog delay. The build quality doesn't compare but the sounds do..to a degree.
Besides both being a very warm nice sounding delay, they could make people think a ufo or helicopter was attacking the house, lol. The Ibanez did it better though.

It's probably because Behringer "borrowed" from the original circuit. :? I have and old Ibanez digital delay. Can't remember the number, geezer moment sorry. Before that I had a Univox EC-80 tape delay. Very cool sounding. Once in a while I could borrow my cousin's Echoplex in the 70's. That thing was awesome.

delay is one of those pedals that can either make or break your sound big time. it can add to and really thicken up your tone or it can be over done and totally wash out you "could be" tone.

I really like the Delta Lab Digital Delay. I have the model of it on my DGFX1, also from Delta Lab, and it really adds a depth and thickness to my tone.

I mostly use mine for just a slight touch of slapback echo. I'm not "The Edge"

I like the MXR Carbon copy and the Boss DD3 and DD7. I own the DD 3. I agree that delay can either make or break a song.

It simulates the tape flutter in the old analog tape echos like the Echoplex. My Univox EC-80 Echo had a little flutter or maybe warble may be a better way to describe it.

My favourite delay isn't a pedal but a rack unit.I use an Ibanez DM 1000 and have used it for over 25 years. The DM 1000 is digital and has infinite repeat and delay functions as well as the best chorus and flange that I've heard.I don't know if they still make them(I doubt it)but if you ever see one on ebay or anywhere else it would behoove any guitarist to pick one up.Having said that before I got the Ibanez I used an original Electro Harmonix Memory Man Deluxe and it was a fabulous pedal and the new ones are supposed to be even better than the original.

Such texture.
This thing makes me want to cry.
