my rigs head is this: Workingman’s 2004 by SWR, 200 watts into 4 ohms/160 watts into 8 ohms. Going into a Sunn 2/15 cab sounds groovy for a not so expensive solid state rig. I have had tube amps in the past, a Fender Super Reverb and a Marshall 100 watt bass stack, that I loved but replacing them is a plan that would not be on the table at this time.

I HAD the Frontman 65 also and like Jeffo46 said GREAT amp! The clean channel, when its cranked about halfway up sounds like a tube amp. Great sound. Unfortunately, I Live in an apartment and Don't play out, so that amp was a little much for my needs at the moment. My advice to anyone looking to buy that amp is, I hope you have a bandroom or deaf neighbors, because the louder you play that amp the better it sounds. It killed me to get rid of it, but now I've got the Marshall MG15X and that is a great amp. It's apartment friendly, and sounds great at low volumes, Has a line in and a headphone jack, and I am suprised how well it sounds clean. Great bluesbreaker tone as well. I got the footswitch with it and that helps. I did order a Champion 600 from GC online last week and that should be here this week. That should even things out so I have a small tube amp. 8)

I have a Vox Pathfinder 15 R and for a solid state amp it's very tube like in it's tone and response.I also have an old early 80s Traynor TS-15 that has a 5-10-15 W master volume rocker switch instead of a pot. Pete Traynor spent 6 yrs researching this amp so he could get tube sound from a solid state and he succeeded as it sounds exactly like a tube amp and has none of the solid state sterility that most ss amps have.I have an old Peavey Decade and even though it sounds like a solid state you can plug it into a cigarette lighter and wail away wherever you go.Although my Vox AD120VTH is technically solid state it has a tube driven pre amp that gives it very very realistic amp modelling capability. That's my inventory of ss amps and each one has it's place.
