I should just unsubscribe to there e-mail list, but yet again the brain trust over at Guitar center has yet again crafted a brilliant deceitful ad guaranteed to trick and get people into the store just to be yet again told that there worthless coupons do not apply to anything they seem to sell.

They clam you can get 10% off up to a total of 500.00 OR 50.00 off any single item of 349.00 or more.

It sounds like a good deal, until you read the exclusion list.

Take a look at the full "Non participating" list and ask yourself, what else do they even carry there?

Would it not be a easier list to just point to the one of two manufactures that are not excluded?

I am going to write a e-mail to GC this time and tell them what I think of this type of advertising and I hope if it is as upsetting to you you will follow suit.

Rant over.....for now.

wouldnt it be easier to make a post here, worded w/o insult, let folks respond to it on here that share the same complaints and then send it in?
\this way its not just 1 complaint from a pissed off customer but US wide all complaining about the same things.
this way it will grab their attention like its not just 1 case and not at just 1 store.
im for it as long as its not full of insults and put downs.
that kind of protest will get us nowhere fast.
if its constructive and worded right im in.

Okay, too be fair i did send a letter of complaint to GC and to my surprise they responded within two hours....

And here is what they said....

Message from Tyler Abram at Guitar Center:
Jeff,

Thank you for your email. We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with our coupons. Many manufacturers have opted out to be included in online promotions. However, depending on the product and promotion, we may be able to offer you similar pricing over the phone.

Please give us a call so we can discuss this with you.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any more questions or concerns.

We appreciate you choosing Musician's Friend.

So I guess if you call in,they may or may not be able to accommodate you.

(And we all know MF and GC are the same company)

I still don't like this, it just gives them the right to say no to what they offered you in the first place.

Well, it better then a kick in the head I guess, I just don't like the game.

i got the same copupon today. i have no idea why i read it. i keep hoping something will change, but alas, oso, different day.

i agree with a previous post. guitar center, why not just send me a coupon that says"10% off on the following items". with the short time it would take to do this they could save some money on labor- just make up the coupon one time, and send it to us once in a while.

maybe somebody knows- do their sales actually increase when they send these out? i'm in sales, and they probably would not send these out if they didn't have an effect.

I would always get a buyer or seller or both when promotions were sent out (real estate) once I got a little polish bungalow in Niles (the children found the flier in the mailbox when they went to gather their parents belongings after they had passed on) and the peoples 550 acre summer home in far northern Wisconsin, 2 lakes 2 log cabins a private road (loggers trail but all of the Black Walnut trees were gone) the only things living on the property were bear, so, yes fliers bring in sales.

fliers bring in sales big time. honestly, it doesnt cost them very much to do them either. the whole goal is to get you in the store and then they gamble on the odds. theres a good chance you will leave with something,
:since your already there" lol

Here in Phoenix, 10% off is slightly covering the sales tax that is 9.5% in Phoenix So to me, I don't really take notice of a discount, unless it's at least 25% or more. I buy from GC online and go to the store on the rare occasion when I'm in their neighborhood, And that's just to kill time playing the guitars. I don't buy my guitars from them. just pedals, cords, accessories. I don't even buy music books there anymore because of the poor selection. 8)

I think all of you that are upset by GC's problems and actions would gripe if you were hung with a new rope!

Yes, their old coupons were great ($10 off anything, etc.), but they can't/aren't doing that any more. Get over it! Think about how many times you've gotten a coupon--of ANY sort--from other music shops.

If you don't like GC, don't give them your money. Get off of it.
