Our band will be playing there 8/2.. Its pretty darn close to Fender's HQ... But I doubt anyone of y'all will be going with the 20 dollar cover...

I am not so sure this place will succeed.. I hope it does... But I can think of another club along North 101 that failed... And so many other restaraunts in this area are falling by the wayside...

Kind of a strange location for a club.. Being in a north Scottsdale strip mall... It will be interesting to see if this place succeeds... I hope they prove me wrong and do well for many years to come..

$20 cover's kind of steep. Even in the Phila Pa area it's only $5-10.
Good luck with the gig though. A lot of places even dropped the cover due to the recession. It's a shame because a lot us with a following would play for the door and make some decent cash.

wow- a 20 buck cover charge- hope you guys are getting it all :D

i have tried to get back to playing on the local scene. bars are not paying very much to bands these days, so you wind up doing it for the love of playing. trying to make this a full-time gig is tough.

i feel for bar owners too. if you have a 4 piece band, and they pay you 100.00 each, they have to hope to sell at least that much more to come close to justifying the cost. the sad part is the effect on local musicians.

i still have many friends who have bands. but in all honesty, i wouldn't be willing to pay a 20.00 cover

If I was close I would drop in to hear you and get to meet....good luck.
Yep $20 is high, and here in the Nashville area you can't make much either.
Jack Pearson is playing in a club here every Tues. night of July and the cover is $10,and there's no telling who could show up to jam with him....some world class musicians for sure.
Times are tough.

That's why I got out when I did and play pretty much for fun and play money.
The bar owners don't understand you can bring more people in with a reasonable cover charge. The problem is, sometimes you bring in more trouble too.

thanks for the kind words... 8) The cover does include one free drink... But so what... It is near impossible for a Jazz big band like ours to make money in clubs... We do however do very well at weddings, festivals, and other country club type events...

a jazz band, eh? i love it. i often wonder how big bands can get paid enough. if you have 12 or so people in the band it can cost a little more to bring you in. it seems like the big bands in our area play for more specialty-type gigs, which draw the type of people who are willing to pay more for this type of music.

we occasionally have free concerts in the park, which is fun, but for a good big band i would surely pay more
