That's a bit of good news, but it seems that irreversable damage has been done to the environment .This form of stemming the flow was suggested by several independant petroleum industry experts in the early days of the spill,if only BP had listened then.

Agreed, why wasn't it done sooner. Seems like such a long time to let it keep spewing oil into the Gulf before it was stopped.

I'm not sure irreversible is the right word, but the recovery will be very long and very expensive!!

I find the News programs and written news to be vary lacking on the oil spill in the sense that if George Bush was President we would have been having nightly specials. Programs like DAY 45 the GULF CRISIS I am sure most agree we would have seen this kind of stuff!!!!

News media just don't want to say anything bad that can stick to present government leaders. Economy sucks and has not gotten any better in the last year an half. Maryland is giving 5000 tax credit to business that higher someone that is on unemployment, in the last year it is less then 150 so far claimed. And unemployed goes up.

One leader gets blamed for slow response to an act of Mother Nature and another gets a walk on slow response of Man made crisis. Where is the News people that just right it and let people decide? Inform of happening and keep personal agenda out of it. It should be News not opinions page.

I would like to no who come up with and how on the oil estimates. Where the money is being spent on clean up and who's money. What did the administration know and when. Why is a moratorium that was thrown out by a Judge being put back out using different wording meaning same thing? And why is the moratorium being done exactly what the administration said in wanted to do a year before the leak which was the perfect excuse. As chief of staff Rahm Emanuel has said publicly " No good crisis should go to waste"

I am just happy for our friends on the coast! Now we can all maybe see what can be done to try and minimize if possible the effects on the environment AND our friends down on the coast who's lives are forever changed. My heart goes out to all of them! Some of the best folks I ever had the honor to meet and know are from the parishes on the coast in LA.
ABS :D
