The fender site no longer shows the body and neck finishes on many guitars and basses. Um.... why?

Take this lovely Geddy Lee jazz bass: http://fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0257702300

It used to say that the neck and body had a gloss finish, which is different than the standard stain finish. Now it says nothing.

Sorry, this just frustrates me.

a couple of people have noticed that but I havent really seen an answer to why they removed finish type and body type (alder no longer listed)
Not sure why, but would love an answer.

It seems that they're dropping a lot of the info that used to be given in the specs. This is going to make choosing a guitar a daunting process when you used to have a good idea what you wanted in a guitar before you went to the music store.

Fellas,
Lets all give brad the benefit of the doubt. They may be doing upgrades to the website. He is always good to us so let's return the favor!

I've read with some amusement on other forums speculation that the recent reduction in instrument specs was due to our upcoming CEO change -- and I'm disappointed to see that same sentiment being expressed here, as I think we've done a rather good job on these forums of convincing folks that that's really not the way things operate at FMIC. Yes, we're a business, but we're musicians and players first and foremost and we generally want to do what's right in the eyes of the musician.

Anyway, political statement aside ... the reason that our specs formatting has changed recently we are undergoing a major switch in our underlying database technology -- a change that will ultimately make things better, but as usual in the interim we're encountering a few "holes".

What I could really use from you folks is not blanket "sky is falling" feedback but rather more specific and proactive feedback. Example: "Brad, you guys used to show [insert spec here] on [insert instrument here] and I found that extremely valuable for [insert reason here]." That's the kind of feedback I can use in my regular meetings with our infrastructure crew who are working on configuring our new product database.

I've already taken note of the item mentioned here in regard to the Geddy Lee Jazz Bass and have forwarded it along and would appreciate additional specific feedback that you have. Post it here or, better yet, simply send me an e-mail directly to btraweek AT fender.com!
