Hey all,

I just got myself a black MIA standard with a rosewood neck and started thinking that there aren't many artists who play a black strat with rosewood neck. I know david gilmour had a rosewood neck for a little while but ultimately returned to maple on black. Clapton play maple necks and every other player that plays on a rosewood neck don't seem to play black strats.

Anyone have an idea..... who am i missing??

The Strat that Jimi played for most of The Monterey Pop Festival was black with a white pickguard and a rosewood neck.He switched to the famous hand painted guitar just before Wild Thing.BTW I have a black lefty Start with a rosewood fretboard(strung right handed-Hendrix Freak).

Interesting. Never really noticed. I've always liked the look of the rosewood better than the maple for some reason.

Eddie Wilson of "The Cruisers" played a black-and-rosewood '62, at least in the first movie......

Here's my Montego Black Strat. Personally, I like maple necks better but the deal on this one was too good to pass up.

Sorry to hijack a thread here, but besides cosmetic reasons, is there any other reason why people prefer rosewood over maple necks? I'm just curious.

thanks for all the replies.

I was just thinking that rosewood on black may seem pretty plain but in truth not that many guitarist use them.

I prefer rosewood because I prefer the way it feels, although I do like the look of a naturally aged maple fretboard
