So if any one remembers (which I seriously doubt) I bought a cheap guitar for 25$ stripped the paint and painted it green. I but new strings on it and plugged it into and amp and I got this awful hum or static noise. It only disappears when I touch metal on the guitar which leads me to believe there is trouble with grounding.

It is a strat style guitar (no name any were) and I grounded it to the piece of metal in the back cavity were the tremolo bridge springs attach. As far as I can tell the trouble is either there or on the output jack were I soldered as well.

Any experience with grounding strats and what common problems could be?
It's been like 4 months sense I did the work on the guitar but It is time for a string change now and I want to do the work while there off. If you need pictures or something to diagnose the problem I'll post some and if you can't help, no problem I just though I might have a chance!

Thanks will p
