I belive that Jimmy Page is a better guitarist than Jimi Hendrix.Just listening to these two and you immediatly observe the difference.I don't know, but Jimi sounds like a high guy(and he was).Jimmy Page sounds more complexe. And that's not just in the solo but in their songs too.But still they are both the greatest guitarists in the world ,that will still remain as the ones how change the face of rock. There is no doubt.

If Hendrix were alive today, there would be several modern day guitar heroes who wouldn't have a career as so many of them "borrowed" Hendrix's stylings for their own.

That's an interesting thought. Would Frank Marino and Trower have been as successful back in the 70's? Probably not.

Further, can you imagine what Hendrix would sound like all these years later?

No, I can't imagine what he would have ended up doing!

I can imagine Hendrix moving towards fusion. he was getting tired of blues based rock anyway. He died young so we imagine him as always being a rocker. That's not what he wanted. Jazz was going to be his next thing. I'm thinking he'd have landed in some fusion project.

Hendrix and Page can't be compared. They each stand apart as two of the few true masters of the guitar.

So my answer is...BOTH!
