One of the guys That I went to school with was colour blind and we used to tell him that he was wearing odd socks-that used to freak him out.But I see what you mean about different perceptions of the same colour. A very good musician friend lost his eyesight to the same form of cancer that Jeff Healey had when he was 12 and I asked him once if he was black blind as opposed to seeing shadows as some blind people do and he said that all he "sees"is black but in his "mind's eye"he can still picture things that he has seen.BTW when I asked him if he was black blind he thought that I meant it in a racial context and we got into a great discussion about how racism would practically disappear if everyone was blind.

No I haven't seen the Clayton Bigsby sketch and I couldn't find it in the Dave Chappell sketches listing.It must have been outrageously good.

Haha, yeah I have thought about that before. Thoughts like that, though, I don't commonly share.

For you who don't understand, imagine a picture in a negative filter, then identify those colors. Reidentify those colors with the original ones. Then you'll understand.

Lol, that's something you'd have to ask my friends and my bro's friends..... I don't really partake because I'm more of the "alcoholic" of my group (their words not mine as I only drink once or twice a week and rarely to the point of getting drunk)... and for my bro he doesn't do anything (drugs/drink) but hangs out with drug dealers and the like, go figure

What you're saying is perfectly reasonable. It's what we call perception. We live in the world that our brain offers us. We have no way of choosing it, it's simply in our individual programming. There's also no way of proving that what other people perceive is 100% exact to what we perceive.

But it also isn't limited to sight. It's all the senses really, as well as personality. If you put 100 people in a room on a cold winter day as asked their opinion on the weather, some would tell you it's a nice day. Others would say it's mediocre weather, and others would downright despise it.

russian; 'two nephews-in-laws are cops. They say two cars can have an accident. They are seen doing so by a police officer and a pedestrian.

Therefore 4 people.

There will be 5 stories of what transpired.

* the driver of vehicle 1
* the driver of vehicle 2
* the police officer's
* the pedestrian's
* WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED

I experienced something like this a few months ago. I was driving in Austin with my wife, our son and his wife. As I was just about to start from a stop sign, a vehicle coming from the left blew through the intersection. Fortunately, we didn't have an accident. However, the four of starting talking about it. My wife and son said that the driver had been a woman with blonde hair, but my daughter-in-law and I were sure it had been a man with brown hair. :shock:

Every once in a while, someone brings it up, and the argument starts all over again. Weird, huh? 8)

Did you know that birds see things in the ultra-violet spectrum? That means that a sparrow that looks brown to us, may look day-glow orange to another bird.

Birds are kind of stuck in the 60's, huh. :)

Think about it, Every person may see a different color spectrum. For example your red might be their blue but you will both identify the color as red because everybody is taught that this color is red or blue or green ect. and even though their red may be your blue you will still be able to point out the color red because that was the name that you were taught to pair with that color.

I just bumped into this thread! What a great topic! I have a similar analytical mind! And often too analytical! :D :oops: 8) :shock: Later on I found out I was one of those "lucky" fellows with the so called "low latent inhibition". In short, a very, very detail oriented person I am. 8)

Great colour analogy. Very similar to my "what if fork was a knife" theory.
Imagine that! What if somebody woke you up in the middle of the night and told you that you were taught everything wrong! Could you get up in the morning, see a knife in your kitchen and call it a "fork"?! And see a fork and say it's a "knife"? Damn, these candy bars are too illusive! Too much sugar! :shock: :x :oops: :twisted: :evil: :D

Who came up with those names??? Who named the objects we use every day?!
What would it be like if we were supposed to swap names of only two of those objects!? Imagine that! What a mess it would have been!
